Coloring

Lets talk about foiling. I've been in the business soo long I remember when foiling first came on the seen. Foiling was invented because it was crazy to put that cap on long hair, pull it through those
holes with the croquette hook. Shear torture for our long hair girls. We also wanted a way to have the color look more natural. To be able to get the color next to the scalp, right up against the root.
It had to be done with something thin as paper. But paper would never work. The cap was also causing on some gals what all of us call that "skunky" look. Yes women would come out with round spots all over their heads! Ghastly!
I've done some research on who and when the foil highlight was invented. I found in 1974 there was a technique invented, but didn't seem to catch hold. Then finally in 1977, the foil as we know it today came about, and by the time I came on the hairdressing seen it started getting more exposure. The 80's we would see the foil highlight take root. Till this day the foil coloring has remained a staple on the hairdressing seen.
