THE LAST DANCE

Moment to moment unraveling:
Staci and Rich would start out in a story book romance. Both newly divorced the idea of a happy second chance at finding love soo exciting. Their courtship would be like something out of a Harlequin romance novel. Meeting one summer afternoon on the beaches in the Hampton's their connection and attraction  for each other maddening. They really felt like they had found their home in each other, and their intimacy and love making was more than either had ever experienced or dared to hope for. Already in their mid-fourties
They decided to become exclusive to each other. They did not want to see other people and their lives would be filled with days and nights consuming and basking in each others love.
Staci was a beautiful blonde girl, tiny , petite, fun-loving, down to earth gal, with a beautiful sexy body, blue eyes that would stop dead any man, and a beautiful smile that when exposed would warm anyone's heart. Rich was tall and thin, ruggedly good looking, like he just stepped off the cover of a Ralph Lauren's add, he just exhumed sexy. When Rich and Staci where out people would exclaim how Barbie & Ken their appearances were.
Their intimacy was nothing like either had ever experienced. Spending hours upon hours basking in the craving that they had for each other. Night after night making love none stop to the wee hours of the morning.
Staci was a hairstylist in the Village Rich worked on Wall Street. Rich got promoted and was working late into the night and weekends. Staci started to feel misconnected. One day they would agree to meet for dinner at a favorite spot. Rich never showed. Staci waited and waited. Finally deciding to call his cell phone frantically hundreds of times. The last time
She would notice the phone got turned off.
On a shear mind blowing panic Staci just couldn't figure this out. Was he hurt. Did he get into an accident. Was he stuck somewhere underground in the subway.
In complete panic she had no idea what to do. She went home waited, called, called his phone still off. Terror would now set in. She decided to try to find him at his apartment. Not there. This was not like him. This was not normal. We have been together for months on a daily bases. Staci  & Rich just had just spent the night before having a wonderful life together. Rich had looked at Staci that night and announced as he looked into her blue eyes and held  her tight in his arms and say to her, "I'm falling madly in love with you" Staci excited beyond words had wanted this. She had waited for this day that she would feel completely safe and secure with her man. She had never wanted anyone in her whole life like she wanted Rich. She had never fallen in love with someone this deeply in her whole life.
Little did Staci know her whole dreams of loves happiness would start to unravel.
It wasn't till the next morning she would finally get him on the phone. Still frantic she would scream in despair "What happened, where were you?!" He would tell a tale how he was with the guys got drunk and fell asleep at Marks place.
Deep in Staci's heart she knew. As she stood there holding the phone and hearing the words she knew the truth. Her heart would fall somewhere and fall hard. After hanging up she was left in bewilderment.
I can't believe what I am experiencing here. The man that I love more than anything in the world is lying to me! As Staci's world started falling apart. She couldn't even think straight. She started to cry. She had just been thrown from planet earth into a twilight zone.
The classic set up to a relationship to go off track, for hopes to be dashed, and for a connection to collapse into distance and despair. But when had the bond between Staci and Rich begin to weaken?? She never saw it coming.
He had cheated, that night he had been so under the spell of another women he would risk everything to ruin what they had. He had sealed his fate in time. And the little black weeds of doubt and distrust would sprout.
The couples downward spiral would never recover. This  Cruela Di Vil would eventually win Riches heart and sweet Cinderella Staci would be left in all consuming heartbreak.
Staci's girlfriend would say to her "I'm sorry Staci, some women don't believe in girl code. Never steal other girls men. If this women would have had class she would have never flirted with Rich and started any sexual encounters with another women's man. But if Rich wouldnt need his self esteem stroked soo much he would have realized he already had a wonderful partner and told Cruella Di Vil
"Look you might be attractive but so is my girl, I don't need anything else." And sent Cruella on her way.
