I love being a hairstylist, but right now it's draining every ounce of my energy and being!
We are a family out the salons I work at. And not everyone fits into the family at either of
the salons I work at.
The Diva's come and go always acting like their hot shit and their talent is the best
to only be frustrated by the fact that there are rules and you can't just do what you want.
Everyone also comes to the city in hopes of huge financial success to also find much
disappointment in this realm. Most salons in NYC pay less commission than back in suburbia.
OOHH, did I just expose the raw truth! Yes, yes I did. I just exposed a secret.
Don't come to New York Looking for huge success asap. Its like anywhere you got to earn it.
Truth is, we work like dogs! long days, the pressure of the job to be on top of your game, to
servicing the mass, to keeping everyone happy, to making your canvas leave looking beautiful.
The old saying still holds true, "80% of what we do is our peoples skills, the other 20% is
talent. Think about that. So what's really going on behind our chair?
