In the Lower East side
Having dinner and drinks
When walks in this gorgeous guy
As I watched him come across the room
I said to myself
God, I wish he'd ask me out
Next thing I know he's standing at our table! He's pulling a chair to sit down!
My God! Who is the wonderful creature!
I had to do everything to keep from starring at him.
Oh my God! I realized at that moment I had a
Major connection with this handsome charming, rugby sort of jock
My heart has been soo closed off for soo
Long I couldn't believe that I was experiencing this!
I knew one day someone HAD to come along and really turn my head and make my heart feel something again
And here he was
As he chatted with my peeps and ordered
A drink my girlfriend finally introduced
Us. There I was soo damn nervous I could
Hardly shake his hand
As we said hello our eyes met
As he held my hand I hoped he would not notice the sweat on my hand
By this time my heart was about to fly out my chest and fall right there on the God damn table
How the hell did my girlfriend know

As the evening progressed and we chatted
And socialized, ate our dinner drank our drinks I found myself still soo nervous
I got a call from my son and was actually happy to excuse myself to go outside and get some fresh air and come back to reality.
When I returned everyone was getting ready to call it a night
We payed the bill
As we all went outside everyone was deciding who was going with who and where we all would disperse off to. My girlfriends wanted to go to Greenwich Village to a place that I didn't want to go to. So I said that I would catch up with them later. As I started down the street to my subway entrance and head back to my apartment.
There he was. "Can I join you?" He would say! I could have just swallowed my tongue! As we strolled that night down the street in the Lower East side of New York city I would say to myself.....
"Is this who I've been waiting for all of my life?!"
We ended up not going home and went to a romantic little cafe for coffee and enjoyed a jazz band. As we discovered things about each other and chatted about our lives, I kept wanting to pinch myself and say, " Is this really happening?!"
We discovered that night we both have so much in common, we are both divorced from long term marriages that were just miserable, we both have kids and we love kids, we both like sports, love to ski, love animals, and he's looking for a new hairdresser! Damn! Does it get any better?!
He's charming and sweet and ruggedly
Good looking. He's smart and well educated. Graduated from Columbia University!! And just soo damn down to earth. I think this is a match! We've seen each other ever since. Lets see if he turns out to be my saving grace.
