THE STORIES FROM BEHIND MY CHAIR

As a hairdresser you deal with a variety of people
social equity is so important
not only that
it's the ability to make your clients feel luved
that's all someone wants when they come to your business
luv
with me doing hair for almost 30 yrs
I'm very very close to a lot of my clients
we are friends
how can you not be when you know someone for 10-20
some years....

with that being said, I'm the one they confide in
I'm the one they tell their deepest darkest secrets to
we share our lives

then there comes the painful times when they break the news
their health is not good
I go numb

just the other day I experienced one of my clients breaking down
telling only me!
confiding in only me!
not even telling her family
her true feelings on her illness
we cried
she cried, I got that sick feeling in my stomach
my heart broke
sick
I don't want her to experience anything bad
she's a sweet kind soul
she doesn't deserve any of this stress

it's a horrible place to be
as a hairdresser to lose a long time client
I still miss my Grace
she passed this summer

my other client got breast cancer
and we go through that together
there was nooo way I wanted to even entertain
the idea of losing her
she's got my back
always there for me
through this stupid crazy divorce years

how could I ever complain again
about my stupid crab
when people have real life threatening issue's

but in the end, I'm there for them
and their there for me

the life behind my chair
